so it’s been about a week shy of 4 full months of pizza. all things considered, it’s lasted longer than i ever thought it would. the time has come to gracefully end the ritual of thursday pizza. we’re no longer obligated to seek out and judge new pizza every thursday. we’re now free to eat pizza on mondays and tuesdays and even fridays. we did well. i’m proud.

i actually really liked this place. it was just the right amount of grease, and the stuffed pizza was good enough to rival carmine’s. its a layer of cheese, pepperoni, and sausage, covered by a layer of cheese and pepperoni. the crust was soft and flavorful. as bad as most of the downtown pizza is, the original italian cafe’s pizza by the slice is actually pretty dam good. quite possibly the saddest pizza thursday. thanks to the torrential rainstorm thursday afternoon, we were stuck downtown and couldn’t stand the idea of walking outside. it was cheap, greasy, and filling. good in a pinch but no real reason to every make the effort for pizza hut. C- sean

So for the first time, in a surprisingly long time, we missed a pizza thursday. Don’t worry, we’ll be back in force next week!

If you haven’t been to the elbow room yet, take a day off of work, while the weather is nice and breezy, head down to elbow room and sit on the back patio. it reminded me of sitting in a friends backyard. it’s a bit of a dive bar with food, but the sicilian pizza is killer. it’s pricy but the large will easily feed 4 regular sized humans. i’ve heard the night life is packed on the weekends, but they supposedly deliver till about 1 or 2 am. go there. Having a couple weeks to really digest and think about Carmine’s has been helpful. It’s downtown, which hasn’t been a good thing lately (as far as pizza is concerned), but the lunchtime crowd was out in force. It was busy. After having their stuffed pizza, which is super amazing fantastic good, i’m convinced that carmine’s is the best pizza downtown. it’s all served by the slice, but don’t hold that against them. they move enough pies during the lunch hour that you’ll be able to get a really fresh slice without having stop yourself from eating an entire 12″ pizza. I loved it. I’d go back. A -sean

We had to scramble since the Bryan St. Tavern wasn’t open yet.
what a wonderful place. The lunch crowd was very light which was good, because there seemed to be only 1 person running the place. She was lovely. Sweet, overwhelmed with work, seemingly happy. The pizza was great. I had a 12″ bacon cheeseburger pizza. So there was mozzarella, chedder, cheese, bacon, and i think ground beef or italian sausage. Some thick roma tomatoes and red onions. The crust was crispy but bordered on the doughy. highly recommend it. The patio was wonderful on a sunny day and the street was surprisingly quiet. The decor makes you think you eating in your parent’s backyard. It’s kinda run down and sorta mid-collapse, but wonderful; all at the same time. I really think you will enjoy what this place has to offer. B+ sean

yes, campisi’s again….but this time, we have corporate sponsorship.
the pizza was pizza; and i don’t mean that in a philosophical way. the sauce is funny. the crust wasn’t crispy or soft. the cheese was not generously spread, nor was its quality surprising. it was pizza. not good. not bad. just bread, sauce and cheese. we got a few pies with varying toppings, but none were interesting enough to even mention here. The best part was that our company did cater lunch today. Thanks apollo!
Next week will be better….i promise. -sean
